FACE YOUR FEAR!

Fear is one of the strongest emotions that humans possess. Where does fear come from? Fear begins early in life as a result of unpleasant experiences. This often results in making non-beneficial choices in order to avoid a similar experience. Depending on the amount of focus one places on these avoidance tactics will set the stage for new experiences, with pleasant on unpleasant outcomes.

Remaining focused on the trauma can lead to anxiety. Anxiety stems from being focused in possible future events, leading to a higher probability of the recurrence of similar traumatic event.

Coupled with anxiety is depression. This is a result of remaining focused on past traumas, feeling hopeless and worthless, thus expecting that more of the same is one’s lot in life.

What one focuses on and truly believes is the foundation from which they will make future choices. If fear is the foundation, one is more likely to continue to manifest more fear. Fear takes on many forms such as unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, narcissism, codependence and anything that separates oneself from the Creator. For the Creator is the well from which love springs.

Many say that fear is the opposite of love and there is much truth in this. Fear contracts whereas love is expansive. During an ordinary day, one may swing back and forth with thoughts, words and actions stemming from fear or love. The more one monitors their fears and beliefs, the easier it becomes to start replacing fearful thoughts, words and actions with those that are love-centered, which when practiced regularly, will begin to cancel out the fear-based thoughts, words and actions.

To overcome fear, one must first face their fear and begin to see the false beliefs that have been adopted, stemming from traumatic events and learned behaviors. Whenever fear arises, take a few moments to take a few long, deep, slow breaths in and out. This will help to build inner peace, which leads to mental clarity. Get on your knees and ask your Creator for guidance for every situation you are facing. Dare to ask to be shown the blocks you have created and how to release them. When you walk hand-in-hand with the Creator, fear will begin to dissolve. Then apply love to the situation and watch the shackles of fear begin to dissolve!

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
