MONITOR YOUR THOUGHTS

When you have fear or thoughts that disturb you, refocus to thoughts of hope and joy. If you live from the perspective “bad things always happen to me,” you keep yourself blinded from joy in the moment. Switch to the perspective of gratitude, no matter what happens. Look for the positive in each given situation.

Take time to monitor your thoughts throughout the day. One way to get into the habit of monitoring your thoughts is to set a timer and let it go off at random times. When you hear the alarm, ask yourself, “What am I thinking about?” Then decide whether you wish to continue this line of thinking or to focus your attention on something more inspiring.

If the thought you are having brings up emotions that need to be healed, take the opportunity to unleash the emotions and to resolve the issues and any repercussions it has had in your life.

When you find yourself stuck in stinking thinking, take a moment to switch to a positive perspective and look for the good in the situation. Doing this on a regular basis will help you to retrain your brain. Then you will begin to enjoy life more.

It is tedious to attempt to monitor every thought you generate. However, it is beneficial to monitor your negatively charged thoughts until you have reached a point where most of your thoughts are positively oriented.

Think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)
