You may encounter situations that feel uncomfortable because they are new or bring up a past time when you were presented with the same situation that you handled poorly. What often occurs is that you are presented with a similar situation repeatedly until you work through it. Although the scenario may not be exactly the same, the basic premise is similar. Repeated patterns are usually a sign that an unresolved issue is ready to be healed.
Love of self and others involved will help to break these patterns. Compassion is an important ingredient. This means treating all with respect no matter what they say or do.
Kindness is also important. This involves being kind to all people regardless of how they treat others. The principle of “turn the other cheek” is a way to not react to what others dish out. You don’t have to be part of their drama. By not reacting in a negative way, you allow the possibility of uplifting others.
Forgiveness of self and others is also important. This does not mean that you have to accept what they say or do, however, without judgment, you can choose to not be a part of their actions. Unforgiveness harbors anger, bitterness and resentment which are killers of joy and inner peace.
No one knows fully what fears or beliefs others are basing their choices on. Nobody has control over what another person believes or chooses to do. No one has the right to take away the free will of another. It is the act of trying to force or manipulate others into changing their beliefs and actions that is the crux of many of the problems within today’s societies. Thus, non-judgment is yet another ingredient to consider.
Don’t forget self-love and love of the Creator! Spend time and attention on creating the best version of yourself. The world would be a much better place in the “twinkling of an eye” if each person would take into account their own fears, beliefs and habits, changing the ones that cause separation and keep them from having inner peace and clarity each moment.
Practice changing patterns that release fear, anger, and resentment toward others and yourself. It is in this state of unconditional love that you will enjoy heaven on earth, no matter how much hell breaks loose around you.
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. (Colossians 3:12-15)
